But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

– 1 Peter 2:9

In today’s society so many of us are pressured to be a woman who has to be the homemaker and a woman who has to have a career. A woman who can do it all. Some of us are even looked down upon because we don’t do it all.

But I am here to tell you today that you don’t have to be it all if you do not want to. According to God’s word woman are by nature helpers and there is nothing wrong with wanting to be a housewife and a mother.

If that is your calling, that is nothing to be ashamed about. We are all unique and different and as Christian women, we are not here to put any pressure on each other to try and be something we do not want to be.

There is also nothing wrong with a woman who decides to have a career and not to marry. We all have a different calling and it does not matter what others think, it only matters what God thinks.

So we live to please God and not man. We live to please Jesus and not this world.

Jesus would not want us to believe the lies the enemy wants to place on our lives. He would want us to be ready in a posture of worship, ready to hear what He has to say about us.

And what does He say about us according to the Bible:

  • You are chosen:

just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love, He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will

– Ephesians 1:4-5

Before the foundation of the world, God chose you to be His daughter, to do great things in His name.

  • Beautifully and wonderfully made:

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139:14

How fortunate are we? To have a God that is truly worthy of all praise. He created the heavens and the Earth, the ecosystems, the galaxies, the complex minds we have that neurologists can’t fully understand, the one who provides us with oxygen and plants and life.

When he created us, he created us with great intellect and purpose but we are also created in His image (Imago Dei). In the account of the creation after He created us  He said :

“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good” – Genesis 1:31

  • When you are weak He is strong:

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”– 2 Corinthians 12:10

Even when we are at our weakest and we have lost everything, God gives us His strength and there is not one thing more powerful than Him.

My flesh and my heart may fail,

but God is the strength of my heart

and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:26

  • You are saved:

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.’ – Romans 10:9-10

God sent His Son to die for us and all those who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life. So we need to declare ‘Jesus is Lord’ because that is the truth and we should live in that and no weapon formed against us will prosper.

  • Filled with hope and joy, peace, patience, You have self-control:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

 – Galatians 5:22

We are Spirit-Filled human beings. With His Spirit he gives us peace and joy especially in difficult times, he has blessed us with gentleness and the ability to have self-control.

These qualities outshine so many other things. They are a gift to us. All we need to do is seek Him above all things and this will be added.

Application:

So when you wake up on any given morning and you do not feel like you can go on, please pray this over yourself and go and study what the word says about you.

Jesus is ready and waiting to hear from you always, no matter what you have done wrong the previous day, know that His mercies are new every morning and that you can approach his throne asking for forgiveness and He will gladly give it to you regardless of what you have done.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;  his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”

Lamentations 3:22-23

So as a Christian woman, going about your day, let the truth set you free, walk in it and share it with the world. That is what Jesus commands us to do and this is something that will set others free too, regardless of your calling, this is our ultimate purpose as a Christian.

Remember who you are in God’s sight before you think of what others think.

He is the one that defines who we are and we cannot allow the world, the enemy or even ourselves to stand in the way of what God wants to do and what He has to say.
