Main Scripture for the Day:
Ephesians 6:15 (NIV)
“And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”
Good morning, cherished sisters in Christ,
As we rise to embrace the new day, let’s take a moment to ponder on the beautiful imagery Paul presents us with in Ephesians 6:15. Just as we carefully select shoes to prepare for the day’s journey, we, too, must prepare our spirits with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
This is not just any footwear; it’s the divine preparation for the path God has set before us.
Imagine you are preparing for a day full of potential. You stand at the threshold of your home, selecting the perfect pair of shoes. This choice is not trivial. Stilettos for elegance, sneakers for comfort, boots for sturdy travel – each pair serves a purpose.
Similarly, as women of faith, we’re called to ‘wear’ the readiness that prepares us for the day’s spiritual terrain. Our readiness is a sign of our willingness to serve, to walk in obedience, and to step into the opportunities God presents to us to share His message of peace and reconciliation.
Think of the parable of the sower in Matthew 13. The sower went out to sow, and the seeds fell on different types of ground. The readiness to share the gospel makes us like the sower, scattering seeds of peace that can take root in fertile hearts.
Our daily interactions are the fields in which we sow – a kind word here, a loving gesture there, all spreading the serene certainty of God’s love.

Yet, our calling is not always met with receptive ground. There will be rocky paths and thorny undergrowth. In these times, our spiritual shoes keep us from stumbling.
They give us the grace to walk away from conflict, the strength to stand firm in adversity, and the agility to step toward those in need with the hope of Christ.
As we reflect on our own journeys, let’s consider the story of a humble postman named John. He wore shoes that carried him across various terrains, through storms and sunshine, to deliver messages that connected, informed, and sometimes, transformed lives.
In much the same way, we are entrusted with a message of eternal significance – the good news of Jesus Christ. Our ‘spiritual shoes’ enable us to traverse diverse landscapes, to reach out across cultural and social divides, bearing the gospel of peace to all whom we encounter.
But what does readiness look like in our daily lives? It may be as simple as sharing an encouraging Bible verse with a friend or as profound as leading a community outreach program.
Readiness is the quiet prayer offered for a stranger, the patience extended to a child, the wisdom imparted to a young believer. It’s being prepared to listen, eager to comfort, and bold to speak truth in love.

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'”
Isaiah 52:7
Our footsteps become beautiful to those longing for hope, for every step taken in readiness is a step closer to someone’s salvation.
Our mission field can be as close as our kitchen tables and as wide as the globe. Every step we take is an opportunity to manifest the peace of the gospel.
Our shoes of readiness carry us into our homes, workplaces, and communities. They equip us for the long walks of ministering to the broken-hearted and for the short strides of daily grace in our homes.
In our spiritual wardrobe, alongside the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness, our shoes of readiness are vital. They prepare us not only to walk in peace but also to stand firm when challenges arise.
The enemy may lay snares, but our feet are secured by the gospel, and we shall not be moved.
As we step out today, let’s pray for the Holy Spirit to guide our steps, to lead us to those divine appointments where our readiness can shine brightly. Let’s ask for wisdom to navigate difficult paths and for the boldness to step out in faith when opportunities to share His love arise.
And now, as we move forward, let’s carry with us a spirit of anticipation. For we do not walk aimlessly but with divine direction. We are ambassadors of the King, messengers of the greatest story ever told.
Each step we take is ordained, each conversation a potential seed of faith, and every act of kindness a reflection of God’s love.

Prayer for the Day:
Heavenly Father, thank You for clothing me with the readiness that comes from Your gospel of peace. As I begin my day, I ask You to direct my steps according to Your word.
Let my feet be firm in Your truth, nimble in Your grace, and swift to share Your love. May I walk in the confidence of Your promises and the hope of Your salvation.
Help me to embody the peace that only You can give, and to extend it to every soul I encounter. Make my path clear and my footing sure as I carry the good news.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
